In this post, we're taking a look at the cover designs of 42 album cover designs from reggae and related genres. American R'n'B transmitted by radio to the little island nation of Jamaica mixed with African rythms and evolved into a whole string of musical genres from the 1950s onwards. Mento, ska, rocksteady, reggae and finally, dancehall which jumped back across the western Atlantic to become a major influence on early east coast Hip-Hop in the USA. Accompanying a seemingly endless list of artists and their releases where all sorts of different album cover designs. This post takes a look at 42 album covers from 1965 up until 2008, covering all the genres mentioned above except mento. Most of the artists and bands are Jamaican, though a few are of European and African origin.
