As an added bonus, you also get a sneak peek at a portion of my upcoming article, "Capturing Heaven" (although that name may or may not change). I encourage you to read the text below in its entirety, as it explains where I'm coming from in regards to star field creation, and should help you get into the right frame of mind to successfully create your own deep-space masterpieces. In this tutorial, it is going to show you how to create a realistic star field. Firstly, you need to initiate it with a background in black. Then you can create a the stars. To make this in a realistic way, you have to put more effort as there will be lots of photoshop techniques involved.

In this tutorial I am going to explain the tools that are in the tools palette and what their basic purpose is. I will not get into too much detail as to what you can do with each tool, because that can be quite in depth with most of them. Instead, what I will tell you is just the basic explanation of what the tool does, and I will leave more in-depth discussions of the individual tools for later tutorials. I will also tell you the shortcut keys for each of the tools. As you first get acquainted with the program you do not necessarily need to remember each of the shortcuts, but as you become more familiar, it will be a good idea to remember and use the shortcuts for the tools you use most often. Shortcuts help speed the creative process along, and in turn will help you be more productive.
